Nat Geo Run adds 3K category
On its ninth year, the Nat Geo Earth Day Run 2018 has added a new category for running enthusiasts for the race slated for April 22 at SM Mall of Asia Ground.
The annual race, which coincides with the celebration of International Earth Day, now features a 3k Fun Run to encourage more runners to join.
There will still be the usual 21k, 10k, and 5k categories with National Geographic expecting to draw 15,000 runners in an effort to bring more awareness to helping the environment.
Article continues after this advertisementThe gun start for participants of the 21K run is at 3:30AM, 10K is at 4:00AM, 5K is at 5:30AM, and 3K is at 6:00AM.
Nat Geo Earth Day Run has also partnered anew with World Wide Fund for Nature Philippines for the #NotPlastic campaign, which aims to tackle the the issue on single-use plastics which are threatening the ecosystem.
“The two organizations aim to increase awareness on plastic waste and push programs that focus on plastic waste management by utilizing the proceeds of the highly-anticipated annual run for the environment,” said WWF president and CEO Jose Angelito Palma.
