The premiere CrossFit competition in Manila is back – the Manila Throwdown 2018 Individual Edition Finals, gathering all CrossFit and Functional Fitness enthusiasts, spectators, and athletes to watch and compete in the most awaited competition of the year happening this May 5 to 6 at the Circuit Makati in Makati City.

Manila Throwdown is a competitive fitness event that tests the overall skills and fitness abilities of qualified participants through different workouts while competing against other athletes from the Philippines and other neighboring Asian countries.

This year marks the 7th Manila Throwdown, which will feature new events – the Teens Edition, and the Scaled 35 – 39 and 40+ Divisions. The Teens Edition is for people aged 15 to 17, who aspire to compete. The RX and the Scaled 35 – 39 and 40+ Divisions were added to level the playing field. The RX division stays for the elite level athlete, while the Scaled division for the new comer and intermediate athletes.

The Online Qualifier ended on March 12 with athletes from different countries doing five intense workouts. After a thorough judging of the scores, the final list of qualified athletes has been finally determined and announced on March 26. Now, there are a total of almost 200 finalists competing in this year’s Individual Edition.

“This year’s Manila Throwdown Individual Edition Finals will be much more than the previous ones. We are going bigger and better! The CrossFit community keeps growing and growing each year, producing better and more well-rounded athletes.” said the Event Manager, Tella Gutierrez.

The event is expected to bring around 1,500 spectators from different parts of the Philippines and abroad. Aside from the competition, the Manila Throwdown will also feature local bands, and a vendor village that will showcase brands in the fitness industry as well as food booths for everyone to enjoy.

“Manila Throwdown is essentially a fitness tournament where they get to compete with other athletes, here and abroad. They have fun winning, competing and they also get to reassess their skills. Overall, it’s a community gathering where they see their coach, family and friends compete and cheer for one another. It’s a culmination of year-long training and a celebration of the community’s drive to create better and healthier members.” Gutierrez added.

The public is invited to watch and support their favorite athletes hailing from the different regions of the Philippines, other Asian countries and abroad. The general public is also welcome to enjoy and learn more about CrossFit. Participating athletes and guests will have the opportunity to meet other health & wellness enthusiasts, win prizes, shop, eat and enjoy local music.
