Charles Garcia is keeping his faith in coach Tim Cone’s system as he aims to integrate himself better to Ginebra moving forward.
“It’s a process, I’m new to the program and the team and it’s still a long season,” he said after the Gin Kings suffered another defeat, this time against TNT, 96-92 on Sunday.
The loss sent Ginebra to a 0-2 start this 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup and the Gin Kings’ early struggles have sparked a call from their fans to replace Garcia.
The Los Angeles native hears all the doubts. That’s why he himself knows that he has to perform better than what his numbers show, averaging 17.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 5.0 assists this conference.
“I got to be patient. Obviously. I’ve given up nothing. I’ve got to be more aggressive,” he said, taking responsibility for the KaTropa defeat.
“I think I let my team down and I could do better out there.”
But it’s not all Garcia’s fault as even Cone called out his locals to show up as the Gin Kings prepare for Friday’s game against Blackwater.
Garcia also remains confident that Ginebra will eventually weather this storm.
“I believe in my guys. We’re gonna battle out there,” he said. “Also, it’s a system. Whatever coach Tim’s system is, I’ll go do it. It’s not about my skill set because I know what I can do. I’m not worried. It’s basketball.”
