PVL: PayMaya soars to 2nd straight win at expense of Pocari

PayMaya put on a strong start in the tournament after quickly dispatching Pocari-Air Force in three sets, 25-20, 25-19, 25-22, in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference Saturday at People’s Gym in Tuguegarao City.

The High Flyers climbed to 2-0 and denied the defending champions of the conference, a victory in their season opener.

Nicole Rountree was solid for PayMaya as she finished with 18 points to lead the High Flyers.

PayMaya head coach Roger Gorayeb said his team had better movement compared to their last game and facing the defending champion pumped up his imports Rountree and Shellby Sullivan.

“As compared to our first game, we committed less mistakes and errors and the imports were very determined because they knew they could play better from last time and it’s the defending champion that we just faced,” said Gorayeb in Filipino.

PayMaya committed 23 errors in its opening three-set win over Tacloban and had slightly less against Pocari-Air Force with 21.

Jerrili Malabanan and Sullivan combined for 17 points to help the High Flyers’ cause.

Myla Pablo had 12 points to lead the Lady Warriors while Jeanette Panaga and Madeline Palmar had nine apiece.
