A bad back didn’t stop Malcolm White from leading GlobalPort to victory on Wednesday night.
The 6-foot-9 big man dropped 20 points, 14 rebounds, four assists, and four blocks to lead the Batang Pier to a convincing 116-94 win over the NLEX Road Warriors
White said he suffered back spasms when he slept while contorted in a wrong position during a three-hour bus ride to Angeles, Pampanga for their Saturday game against Magnolia where the Batang Pier lost 92-87.
But White mustered enough strength to overcome the pain.
“We just got to keep playing man and believe in ourselves,” said White, whose team is now at 3-2 to move to fourth place in the standings.
“We trust coach [Pido Jarencio’s] system and in practice we’re working on our defense and being consistent.”
White’s four blocks spearheaded Globalport’s stingy defense in the shaded area wherein it only allowed the Hotshots to a 22-of-39 conversion, 44 points, in the paint while putting a 32-of-48 clip on its own end.
The Batang Pier limited the Hotshots to 37-of-92 overall in the field while shooting an efficient 47-of-87.
