Streaking Maroons, Cardinals raring to stretch victory run

University of the Philippines shoots for a fourth straight win when it clashes with stumbling Emilio Aguinaldo College on Monday in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Cup.

After losing their first three games, the Maroons have been impressive of late and are installed as the solid picks in their 12:30 p.m. clash with the winless Generals at Filoil Flying V Sports Centre in San Juan.

The Maroons and the National University Bulldogs are tied at 3-3, good for 5th and 6th spots in Group A.

Mapua (4-0), meanwhile, tries to keep its unbeaten run going when it tangles with University of the East at 4:30 p.m.

Despite coming off a 61-63 loss at the hands of the Gilas Cadets, the Warriors (1-3) have shown vast improvement and are tipped to give the Cardinals a run for their money.

The Cardinals picked up an easy win when Perpetual Help (0-5) defaulted on Friday.

A tie for the lead with La Salle, currently holding a 5-0 card, is what’s in store for the Cardinals.

Ateneo is the other undefeated side in Group A, also at 4-0.

EAC coach Aris Sison will need to get big games from veterans Jerome Garcia and Jeric Diego if they hope to snap the Maroons’ streak.

In the 2:15 p.m. match, Adamson clashes with another struggling team in Jose Rizal U.
