MPBL: Marikina, Muntinlupa get opening day wins

Marikina and Muntinlupa were off to a strong start in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Datu Cup after opening day wins at Smart Araneta Coliseum on Tuesday.

The Muntinlupa Cagers spoiled the debut of Ray Parks and the Mandaluyong El Tigre, 86-74.

Allan Mangahas paced Muntinlupa with 16 points, six rebounds, and five assists, while Parks finished with 21 points and 10 rebounds in the losing effort.

Meanwhile, the Marikina Shoemakers turned back the Gen San Warriors, 81-88, in the curtain raiser.

Yves Sazon, a standout from Philippine Christian University, exploded for 33 points, 10 rebounds and four assits in the win.
