Despite being a libero for the last three years, Bang Pineda is slowly finding her way back to the position she was once known for – an outside hitter.
Pineda rose to the occasion when it was needed the most, scoring 10 of her 20 points in the last two sets in Generika-Ayala’s 25-23, 20-25, 21-25, 25-12, 15-13 win over Foton in the 2018 Chooks to Go PSL Invitational Tuesday at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

“I had a hard time adjusting actually because shifting from the spiker to libero position was not that hard but the libero to spiker, it is a big adjustment. I had to double time to catch up with the other spikers,” said Pineda in Filipino.
Against a taller Foton side, Pineda played smart by chalking up multiple off-speed hits and drop balls.
The former Adamson Lady Falcon bared being a beach volleyball player helped her adjust easier.
“Bang used variant attacks that’s why she was able to score over the towering defense of Foton,” said Lifesavers head coach Sherwin Meneses in Filipino. Ma. Angelica D. Garcia and Justin Robert Valencia
