BanKo-Perlas breezed past PetroGazz 25-19, 25-19, 25-19 to complete the quarterfinals sweep in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference at the Filoil Flying V Centre on Wednesday.
The Perlas Spikers finished the playoffs with a 5-0 slate and also eliminated the Angels from the semifinals hunt, giving Pocari Sweat-Air Force the last semifinals spot.
The Lady Warriors had a 4-1 win-loss card while PetroGazz ended the quarterfinals at 3-2.
BanKo-Perlas hung on to a 20-19 lead in the third set when they uncapped a five-poin, game-winning swing sealed by an off-the-block kill by Nicole Tiamzon.
“Going into this game, the players feel relaxed. I was planning to put in the second stringers in the third set but then we realized we can’t jeopardize our momentum in the match,” Perlas Spikers head coach Ariel dela Cruz said in Filipino.
Amy Ahomiro’s service ace capped off Banko’s 6-3 spurt late in the second set for a 2-0 advantage.
Lakia Bright poured 21 points for BanKo-Perlas while Jutarat Montripila tallied 12 markers.
Olena Lymareva-Flink scored 17 points for the Angels.
The Perlas Spikers will face the PayMaya High Flyers in the semifinals while the Water Defenders will face top-seeded Creamline Cool Smashers. Ivan Ruiz L. Suing
