BaliPure-National University head coach Babes Castillo is using the Water Defenders’ stint in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference as a way for the Lady Bulldogs to test themselves in the upcoming UAAP season.
With the Lady Bulldogs’ 14-strong roster composed of nine rookies, Castillo is looking to help his incoming volleyball players to adapt to the intensity of the collegiate level.
“The games are a form of collection of data. When they play in the UAAP, they will have a recollection of the plays that happened here,” Castillo said in Filipino.
Other NU players such as Faith Nisperos, will still play in the juniors’ division with the Lady Bullpups.
Former Lady Bullpups Princess Robles, Joyme Cagande, Ivy Lacsina and Jennifer Nierva are confirmed to play in Season 81.
Castillo added that he is uncertain whether NU veteran Jorelle Singh will suit up.
“I don’t think Jorelle will play. We’re still talking to her,” Castillo said.
Castillo looks to build camaraderie among the Lady Bulldogs when they join in the coming Open Conference.
“Our plan is to bring the future NU collegiate team. Like I said, this team will be mostly first-year players so it is going to be a young team,” Castillo said. Ivan Ruiz L. Suing
