Go for Gold scraped past Centro Escolar University, 75-60, in the 2018 PBA D-League Foundation Cup on Monday at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

The Scratchers regained top seed as they improve to 6-2 while CEU dropped to 4-4.

New addition Rey Publico led Go for Gold with 18 points and 11 rebounds.

“One of the weaknesses that I saw was rebounding and Publico gives us a lot of rebounding. He is an energy guy,” Scratchers coach Charles Tiu on Publico’s debut.

Go for Gold ended the game on a 14-6 run to ice the win.

The Scratchers were down by four men as Ron Dennison and James Martinez were out due to hamstring injury and muscle strain, respectively, while Jerwin Gaco was under the weather. Gab Banal is still in Australia for a personal trip per Tiu.

Paul Desiderio delivered 17 points in his last game with Go for Gold as he is set to rejoin the University of the Philippines training camp in Serbia.
