Eya Laure has been nothing short of remarkable for University of Santo Tomas in the Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference with the rookie putting up big numbers despite a lingering right shoulder injury.
The 18-year-old open spiker has averaged 16 points a game for the Golden Tigresses despite dealing with a right shoulder that had been dislocated twice in the past few days,
Managing to fight through the pain, Laure helped UST blank College of St. Benilde, 26-24, 29-27, 25-17, to stay perfect with a 5-0 card in the tournament.

“I just fought the pain and I tried to play in the third set but it was best to rest it,” said Laure in Filipino.
Laure, whose injury started during her high school days, first dislocated her shoulder during therapy and the second during their weights training.
“All I did in training was go through our drills on defense, but I couldn’t do more than that,” said Laure who had 11 points against the Lady Blazers.
UST head coach Ian Fernandez said he instructed his setters Alina Bicar and Mafe Galanza to distribute the ball to the other attackers to help Laure get some breather during the game itself.
“The kid’s a fighter and she told me that she can still play normally but I still wanted to have her play as minimal as possible,” said Fernandez.
