SEAG champion notches 6th URCC victory

Eduard “The Landslide” Folayang needed just 56 seconds to stop Thailand-based Brazilian Wadson Teixeira in their Superfight during the URCC-Colt 45 Cebu 7: Domination last Friday at the Cebu International Convention Center.

The Muay Thai champion came out aggressively, unleashing a combo of powerful shots to Folayang’s body before sneaking out a thunderous hook that staggered the three-time SEA Games titlist.

Teixeira took Folayang down to the ground but it proved too costly for him—not knowing the wushu specialist thrives in ground fighting.

Using his brute strength, Folayang managed to free himself and move to side mount over Teixeira, a situation that forced the Brazilian to tap several times in surrender in the event sponsored by Chris Sports with Solar Entertainment as media partner.

It was the sixth win for the reigning URCC welterweight champion.

Also posting impressive wins were Cebu’s Carry Bullos, who dethroned Rex De Lara for the Visayan bantamweight crown via guillotine choke– 40 seconds into the second round and Victor “Gladiator” Torre, who kept his Visayan pinweight title via armbar submission in 6:16 of the first round.

Only two knockout wins were recorded in the 8-fight event courtesy of Roel Rusaro, who downed Arnel Ylanan with a backfist; and Jimmy Sabo, who stopped Urtych Alarin in just 24 seconds with a right hook.
