Makabansa hoops tips off

All 18 teams led by defending champion Senate Advocates get to strut their wares on Saturday when the second edition of the Makabansa Basketball League takes off at Meralco Fitness Center in Pasig City.

MVP Sports Foundation chair Manny V. Pangilinan heads the guest list along with Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi at the opening of the recreational tournament that features government officials and employees as well as executives of private companies.

Also expected to grace the opening are Interior and Local Government Undersecretary Epimaco Densing and special prosecutor Edilberto Sandoval of the Office of the Ombudsman as well as former national basketball team coach and TV5 president Chot Reyes.

Project lead Jang Moreno of Meralco said Asi Taulava and Kevin Alas of NLEX Road Warriors and Ranidel de Ocampo and Jared Dilinger of Meralco Bolts will also be in attendance.
