UAAP beach volleyball: UST’s Rondina, Barbon near outright finals berth

University of Santo Tomas’ Sisi Rondina and Babylove Barbon sustained their perfect form after a couple of dominating wins over National University and Adamson on Tuesday in the UAAP Season 81 beach volleyball tournament at Sands SM By The Bay.

Rondina and Barbon stamped their class, overpowering the Lady Bulldogs pair Klymince Orillaneda and Antonette Landicho, 21-12, 21-7, before dumping the Lady Falcons tandem of Nicole Infante and Gracelchen Ave, 21-7, 21-11.

The Golden Tigresses have yet to drop a set this season as they rolled to 6-0. They gun for an automatic berth in the best-of-three finals against Far Eastern University on Friday.

Meanwhile, defending men’s champion NU, composed of Bryan Bagunas and James Natividad, and UST, made up of Krung Arbastro and Jaron Requinton dispute a twice-to-beat Final Four bonus on Friday.

The Bulldogs beat Clifford Inoferio and Alven Aljas of University of the East, 21-16, 21-15, while the Growling Tigers topped Pao Pablico and Jesus Valdez of Adamson, 23-21, 21-15, as the two teams racked up their fifth win in six games.

Also in the men’s division, FEU’s Jude Garcia and Kevin Hadlocon blasted La Salle’s Geraint Bacon and Paul Serrano, 21-11, 21-10, to move within a win of securing an outright Finals berth.
