BanKo Perlas Spikers capture bronze in Vietnam tilt

BanKo notched a podium spot in the Vinh Long Television Cup after turning back Malaysia in, 28-26, 25-16, 25-22, for the bronze medal Wednesday at Vinh Long Province’s Gymnasium in Vietnam.

The Perlas Spikers, who also placed third in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference, still shone with without Kathy Bersola and had players nursing varying injuries.

“I would like to commend the girls for playing very well even if our games here in Vietnam have been continuous,” said BanKo head coach Dong Dela Cruz in Filipino.

Amy Ahomiro, Nicole Tiamzon, Sasa Devanadera, and Sue Roces also were not in top shape for Perlas during their last match match.

Dzi Gervacio delivered the medal-winning point for BanKo after a well-placed set from Fen Emnas.

The Perlas Spikers will return to the PVL Open Conference and improve on their 2-0 card when they face Adamson-Akari and Ateneo-Motolite.
