San Beda’s Catindig leads PH’s 7-gold haul
San Beda stalwart Princess Catindig captured the gold medals in women’s open singles and team events to banner the country’s seven-gold medal haul in the Philippine University Soft Tennis Invitationals over the weekend.
The Santa Rosa, Laguna, pride drubbed Thai Phrepoi Manahil, 4-3 (4), in the singles final to take her first gold of the meet held at Colegio San Agustin indoor hard courts in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan.
Philippine Soft Tennis Association president Col. Jeff Tamayo lauded the breakout performance of the Nationals.
“This is the product of our long-term development,” said Tamayo. “Slowly, we are scratching the surface insofar as international competitions are concerned. Things could only get better from here.”
