Phoenix forward Calvin Abueva was fined P10,000 by the PBA for raising the middle finger twice in the Fuel Masters’ last two games against NLEX and San Miguel Beer last week.

Abueva met with PBA commissioner Willie Marcial on Monday at the PBA Office in Libis after he was summoned for the incident on Friday where Abueva got tangled up with Beermen import Kevin Murphy late in the fourth quarter

“There’s a first offense (P4,000) and a second offense (P6,000),” Marcial said in Filipino.

According to Marcial, Abueva also asked the league to review the flagrant foul penalty 1 called on Murphy, saying that it should’ve been a flagrant foul penalty 2.

“Calvin came and we talked. He told me he was choked and dragged towards the baseline,” Marcial said. “I told him the technical committee will look into it and I will support whatever the committee’s recommendation would be.”

Abueva also did not deny displaying the dirty finger that was shown on live TV.

“He (Abueva) told me that he won’t do it again. I reminded him that a lot of kids are watching us.”

Murphy is scheduled to be at the PBA Office on Tuesday afternoon.

“We will listen to Murphy’s explanation. He will arrive here tomorrow.”

Abueva declined for an interview.
