Surfing and cooking can be a lethal combination as proven by JP Anglo, a Bacolod chef who has been a surfer for six years now.
More than a way of keeping fit, he says the waves provide him balance.
It was Cris Par, a local surfing instructor from La Union, who taught Anglo how to surf. Now deeper into the sport, he makes sure he works out to prepare his body for his next surfing experience.
“I try to be fit, because of surfing. Everything in my workout routine is related to surfing. It may look cool for a sport, but it’s hard,” said Anglo, who is looking at joining competitive events.
A chef first, Anglo hosts a television travel show while tending to Sarsa, his thriving restaurant business.
Tanduay Distillers, which has a rich basketball tradition, took an interest in Anglo’s work.
“When I’m not surfing, I love cooking—with alcohol, said Anglo. “I use Tanduay in the dishes I make.”
