Travis posts triple-double, Hotshots eliminate Elite to enter semis
Romeo Travis notched a triple-double to push Magnolia past Blackwater, 103-99, on Tuesday to enter the 2018 PBA Governors’ Cup semifinals at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Travis posted 18 points, 20 rebounds and 12 assists while Paul Lee led all scorers with 22 points, including a pair of game-sealing free throws with five seconds left.
Article continues after this advertisementThe Hotshots, the first team in the semis, face the winner of the quarterfinals matchup between No. 1 Barangay Ginebra and No. 8 NLEX.
Ian Sangalang added 18 points, capped by a big basket that gave the Hotshots the lead for good, 97-96, with 2:12 remaining.
Sangalang, who shot 7-of-11 from the field, also grabbed eight rebounds and had four blocks in 24 minutes off the bench.
Article continues after this advertisementJP Erram shone with 15 points and 19 rebounds while Henry Walker had 18 points, eight rebounds and five assists but still not enough to keep the Elite’s dream conference going.
Blackwater ended the elimination round as the fifth seed with a 7-4 record.
