Adamson University’s time in the exclusive throne room of the UAAP Cheerdance Competition has come to pass in just under a year.
After surprising everyone for the Season 80 title, the Adamson Pep Squad settled for the bronze in Season 81 but head coach Jeremy Lorenzo showed his appreciation for still finishing in the podium.
“Of course we’re thankful because we’re in sports and you need to have sportsmanship,” said Lorenzo in Filipino Saturday at Mall of Asia Arena. “You must accept defeat and even though we lost we’re still thankful because we’re in the top three.”
The Falcons drew inspiration from the film Lion King for their theme in this year’s competition and their tally of 638.5 points were enough for their third overall medal in the competition.
Lorenzo said that it was just National University’s time to win the title in Season 81.
The NU Pep Squad won their fifth title in six years after going on a four-peat from 2013 to 2016.
“Very well-deserved for the winner this year,” said Lorenzo. “Really it’s just someone’s time and you need sportsmanship to accept your rank. And I’m just happy to see the sacrifices of the athletes paying off because we still gave everything to the Lord.”
“We won’t lose hope and this isn’t the end for us.”
