MANILA, Philippines—F2 Logistics advanced to the semifinals after tearing down Cocolife in straight sets, 25-12, 25-22, 25-20, in the Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference Saturday at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The Cargo Movers, the reigning two-time Grand Prix champions, will take on Generika-Ayala in the semifinals.
Despite holding a two-set lead, F2 had a hard time shaking the Asset Managers off in the tail end of the third period with Cocolife persistently threatening at the Cargo Movers heels.
Gyra Barroga nearly made it a one-point game, 20-19, but F2 head coach Ramil De Jesus’ crossing challenge was deemed successful and that gave the Cargo Movers 21-18 bubble.
Cha Cruz-Behag scored on back-to-back kills to give the Cargo Movers a 23-19 lead before Kim Fajardo put F2 at the 24-20 match point with a simple tap-in.
“I saw that they lacked energy and aggressiveness, that killer instinct I should say,” said De Jesus in Filipino. “They should finish things immediately because they can already dominate.”
Mary Joy Baron finished with a game-high 13 points while Cruz-Behag added 11 points for the Cargo Movers who tallied a 40-28 advantage in spikes over the Asset Managers.
Kalei Mau led Cocolife with 10 points while Justine Tiu added nine.
