The hunt for the next Creamline coach has gone full blast.
Just a day after Creamline dominated the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Open Conference, speculations abound as to who will replace Tai Bundit, the Thai mentor whose lack of English skills didn’t hinder him from winning titles.
Bundit has decided to go back to his family, leaving behind the championship franchise which he said would dominate the league for years.
The Cool Smashers also won the Reinforced Conference title early this year.
Creamline management has been shopping for his replacement even before the finals, capped by Saturday’s 25-20, 25-20, 25-15 win over Motolite-Ateneo, which they swept in two games.
Sources said Creamline’s list includes active coaches from both the PVL and rival league Philippine Superliga.
Foreign mentors are also being considered.
At any rate, the solid core, composed of Alyssa Valdez, Jema Galanza, Michele Gumabao, Risa Sato and Jia Morado, will be back next season.
Creamline can expect a tougher Motolite squad which has reportedly tapped the services of Myla Pablo in building up its own franchise.
But for Valdez, the important thing is they managed to give Bundit a fitting sendoff after dominating Motolite-Ateneo in the best-of-three championship series.
“He deserved a great exit, he deserved nothing but the best,” said Valdez of Bundit, who also helped her Ateneo team win back-to-back titles in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP).
