Torres heads Subic Int’l Marathon topnotchers
National triathlon standout Monica Torres topped the women’s 21K race Sunday, leading the roster of winners in the Subic International Marathon at the Remy Field in Subic Bay.
Torres finished the race in one hour, 32:52 minutes to duplicate the feat of Jofill Sabado, who timed 1:20:54 for the men’s title.
Shining in the absence of the country’s finest runners, Ryan Mendoza and Jul Laiza Camposana took top honors in the 42K races.
Article continues after this advertisementMendoza clocked 3 hours 7:04 minutes to reign supreme in the men’s race, even as Camposano won the women’s event in 3:58:10.
Leerams Chicano ruled the men’s 10K race in 34:19 while Merlyn Lumagbas topped the women’s division in 46:03.
A total of 16 Filipino runners actually delivered podium finishes in the benefit race participated in by runners from the United States, Canada, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.

The marathon was backed by Pagcor, Casino Filipino, DLA Naturals, Harbor Point Ayala Mall Subic , PLDT Subictel and Pocari Sweat, among others.
