Eala named Europe’s best foreigner

The Philippines’ most promising talent, Alex Eala, was named Tennis Europe’s Overseas Player of the Year last Wednesday.

The 13-year-old tennis sensation was cited “for her massive impact on the Tennis Europe Junior Tour.”

She rose in ranking to sixth in the girls’ 14-under category despite playing only in six tournaments, the least number of events from among the top 40 in her division.

The body also acknowledged her triumph in Les Petits As in France, as well as tournaments in Italy and Germany, where she ran away with both singles and doubles crowns.

Just recently, Eala bagged the PSC-Phinma International juniors Week 1 and then finished runner-up in Week 2.

Now ranked 247th in the world in juniors (from 447 just two months ago), Eala is preparing for more tournaments next year.

Eala is currently training at Rafael Nadal Academy.
