National age group triathlon Sunday

MANILA, Philippines—The Triathlon Association of the Philippines (TRAP) aims to spot fresh talents when it holds the 2012 National Age Group Triathlon this Sunday at the Dungaree Beach in Subic.

Some 250 participants have signed up for the race featuring the sprint distance (750-meter swim-20K bike-5K run) for the 16-19 age group and the mini-sprint (350m swim-16 K bike-2.5 K run) for the 13-15 category.

Budding racers may also compete in the SuperTriKids Aquathlon with distances of 200m swim-400m run for the 9-10 age group and the 350m swim-1.5K run for 11-12-year-old participants.

The race series presented by Century Tuna is also open to adult age-group triathletes in the standard and sprint distances.

The event is backed by the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority, the Philippine Sports Commission, Gatorade, Asian Centre for Insulation Philippines and Arena.
