MANILA, Philippines—Filipino boxer Rey Perez fell to Australian George Kambosos Jr. in their lightweight contest Sunday (Manila time) at MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
The two fought in the undercard of Manny Pacquiao’s defense of his WBA World welterweight title against Adrien Broner.
Kambosos, Pacquiao’s sparring partner the past year, captured the unanimous decision win (80-72, 80-72, 80-72) after a dominant and methodical approach that left Perez little room to recover over the eight rounds of their fight.
Perez (24-11), who hails from Laguna, is on a struggle in his past 16 fights going 7-9.
Kambosos (16-0), meanwhile, has been on a tear with only his win over Perez the only fight to go to the judges’ decision.
