Kevin Alas and NLEX just couldn’t catch a break.
Alas, a rising star in the PBA, suffered another ACL injury in his right knee, NLEX announced on its Twitter account Monday.
We regret to inform the public that @kevinlouiealas sustained an ACL injury on his right knee during our February 2 game against the Meralco Bolts. Our medical team is set to confirm the extent of the injury through MRI results on Tuesday, February 5. #ArangkadaAlas pic.twitter.com/4KvX2GqtGc

This is the same knee which was injured in last year’s Philippine Cup. According to our medical team, Kevin will be out of action for several months as he goes through another round of surgery and therapy. #ArangkadaAlas

It was a tough blow for Alas, who had just come back from the first ACL injury he sustained in last year’s Philippine Cup that sidelined him for 10 months.
The 27-year-old Alas hurt his right knee following an awkward landing after he was fouled mid-air by Meralco forward Cliff Hodge in the Road Warriors’ win over the Bolts last Saturday at Ynares Center in Antipolo.
The former Letran standout is averaging 8.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, 4.6 assists and a steal per game through five games for NLEX, which is currently in the middle of the standings with a 2-3 record.
We thank our fans for supporting @kevinlouiealas during his 2018 recovery. It is no secret that Kevin worked extremely hard to get back in fighting form for the 2019 PBA season. #ArangkadaAlas

Alas, a fearless competitor, had overcome it before and he’d get through the same hurdle again.
