MANILA, Philippines—Marinerong Pilipino rolled past Chadao-Far Eastern University, 97-63, for its second win in the 2019 PBA D-League Tuesday at Paco Arena in Manila.
Santi Santillan scored a game-high 19 points while Jed Mendoza added 16, including six as part of a key 16-3 run in the third quarter that put the game away.
“All the extra work my players do to work on their skills are paying off. I really expected the team to have games like this,” said Marinerong Pilipinas coach Yong Garcia.
The pivotal tear in the third quarter allowed the Skippers to regain control of the game for good as they took a commanding 60-43 lead with three minutes left in the period.
Anton Asistio shot 12 points, all on 3-pointers, while Laurenz Victoria also scored 12 for Marinero, which improved to 2-1.
Matthew Aquino had 10 points and five rebounds in his Skippers’ debut.
Alec Stockton paced the Tamaraws, who slipped to 1-2, with 16 points.
