Tin Tiamzon fills in for injured Des Cheng, helps La Salle win over UE
MANILA, Philippines—De La Salle was in a tough spot heading into Saturday’s game knowing that it had to bounce back from back-to-back losses
The Lady Spikers had never lost two straight games since their finals loss in Season 77 to Ateneo, and recovering from their losses to University of Santo Tomas and University of the Philippines got harder when captain Desiree Cheng was ruled out against University of the East due to a right shoulder injury.

Tiamzon scored 10 points as she and Jolina dela Cruz, who had 14, helped La Salle breeze past the Lady Warriors, 25-18, 25-20, 25-18.
“I knew since Wednesday that Ate Des had the injury and that she needs to rest,” said Tiamzon in Filipino. “So I told Ate Des ‘Ate, I’ll take care of this just take a break and take your time. Just know that I got you covered.’”

The Lady Spikers’ win brought them to a 4-2 record and are now tied with University of Santo Tomas in the second spot behind Ateneo, which holds a 3-1 card.
Despite the win, Tiamzon said La Salle is far from their top form.
“That wasn’t our A-game,” said Tiamzon of their victory against the Lady Warriors. “It’s a process and this season still has a long way to go. We just have to push through.”
