Novis dominant in Tagum
Ma. Angelica Novis completed another two-title sweep while Ryan Alga pulled off a shock win in the boys’ singles of the PPS-PEPP Tagum City national age-group tennis tournament in Davao del Norte recently. Novis whipped Hanna Amazona, 6-0, 6-2, to rule the 16-under bracket before repeating over Amazona, 6-1, 6-1, in the premier 18-U class.
Chicano bags duathlon bronze
John Leerams Chicano finished third in the men’s elite category of the Powerman Asia Duathlon recently in Malaysia. Chicano returned to the same punishing course where he won the silver medal in the 2017 Southeast Asian Games. He clocked two hours, 43 minutes and 25 seconds in the 10-kilometer run and 60-km cycling event ruled by Frenchman Antony Costes in 2:41.23.
