PBA D-League: Wangs pounds Marinerong Pilipino for 2nd win
MANILA, Philippines—Wangs Basketball showed no remorse and dominated Marinerong Pilipino, 88-78, win in the 2019 PBA D-League Thursday at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
Arvin Tolentino exploded for 32 points with 12 rebounds and four blocks, leading Wangs’ offense as it bumped its record to a solid 2-1.
Article continues after this advertisementIt wasn’t all Tolentino, though, as some Couriers also joined in the tough grind.
Holding a slim 58-57 lead, Wangs pinned down the Skippers and went on a 13-0 spurt and erected a 71-57 lead with 6:31 left in the game.
That quick action was enough for the Couriers to hold on despite Marinerong Pilipino’s late-game charge.
Article continues after this advertisementGelo Vito provided ample support as he rammed the paint for 10 points, seven rebounds, and four assists for while Radge Tongco and Darius Estrella pitched in 11 and 10 points, respectively.
“Marinero is a big fish, and it’s big thing that we prepared hard for that team,” said Wangs head coach Pablo Lucas in Filipino.
Orlan Wamar led the Skippers, who fell to 2-2, with 25 points while Felix Apreku added 14 points and 16 rebounds.
