Zamboanga, Davao draw first blood

Top seed Davao Occidental shook off a slow start on Wednesday night and Zamboanga continued its remarkable playoff run with another stunning win as the two teams closed in on an all-Mindanao clash in the South division of the MPBL Datu Cup at Rizal Memorial Colleges Gym in Davao City.

The Tigers held the Bacoor Strikers scoreless in the last four minutes to complete a come-from-behind 79-71 victory in Game 1, after the Rapidos crushed defending champion Batangas City Athletics, 72-58, to move on the brink of the South division title match.

Both Davao and Zamboanga can forge a finals duel with wins on Saturday when the South division semifinals shifts to Batangas City Coliseum.
