CALASIAO, PANGASINAN—Veejay Vasandani will be ponying up for 126 wheelchairs to be donated to the Alagang PBA foundation.
And he isn’t computing costs.
“Some things, you can’t out a price on,” said Vasandani, chief of Double V Productions, which promoted the PBA All-Star weekend here.
Double V promised a wheelchair for every triple and every dunk during the two games featured during the annual spectacle: Friday’s Rookie-Sophomore vs Juniors match and Sunday’s North vs South All-Star game.
The young turks coughed up 44 wheelchairs on Friday. On Sunday, it was all dunks and triples at Calasiao Sports Complex.
As the North dismantled the South, 185-170, the two teams combined for a record 45 triples and 37 dunks: A total of 82 wheelchairs.
“We wanted to make things more meaningful for this game,” said Vasandani. “And you could see everyone was really enjoying the game on a different level.”
“I’m happy with the turnout, I’m happy with the number of wheelchairs. We’re just happy to be able to help while bringing joy to the people of Pangasinan,” added the promoter.
