After massive repairs have been done, national athletes from 10 sports can now enjoy clean and comfortable living quarters at Rizal Memorial Sports Complex (RMSC) in Manila and the PhilSports Complex in Pasig City.

The upgrade, however, will have stricter house rules, especially on billeting application and daily monitoring of the dormitories.

Athletes from weightlifting and women’s wrestling have checked in to their newly renovated rooms at RMSC, while members of the national fencing, karatedo and muay teams went back to their quarters at PhilSports.

They were asked to vacate their dormitories with the rest of the national pool from various sports staying at both RMSC and PhilSports on Dec. 14.

The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) took care of the athletes’ temporary board and lodging throughout the three months that renovations were being done.

Previous administrations of the PSC have failed to prioritize the renovation of the athletes’ quarters with some of the dormitories at the RMSC neglected for over a decade.
