PH U14 girls team qualifies for ITF World Juniors Championships
Powered by sensational 14-year-old Alex Eala, the Philippines qualified for the first the time in 26 years to the ITF World Junior Championships for girls 14-under after beating Hong Kong, 2-0, Thursday in Kuala Lumpur.
The Filipinas, also composed of Alexa Joy Milliam and Jen Prulla, will compete in the 16-nation Worlds in August in Czech Republic.
They beat Sri Lanka in the opening round before defeating Indonesia to make the quarterfinals. Last Wednesday, the Philippines also bested New Zealand.
The Philippines, coached by former nations player Czarina Mae Arevalo, last made it to the Worlds in 1993.
