11th SM Bowling Cup stakes cars, cash prizes
MANILA, Philippines—Expecting to draw more young enthusiasts, the 11th SM Bowling Cup gets going next week with bigger prizes up for grabs.
Three brand-new cars and cash prizes await the champions of the three-leg competition that will culminate with the National Finals in December.
“The tournament is open to all ages,” said Bonnie Solis, division manager of SM Bowling Center, in yesterday’s PSA Forum at Shakey’s UN Avenue in Manila.
Article continues after this advertisementJed Arboleda of SM Family Entertainment Center said similar qualifiers will be staged at the SM bowling centers in Cebu, Iloilo, Bacolod and Davao.
Both officials said the event had served as a training ground for several members of the national pool, including Benshir Layoso and Diane Coronacion.
Ruel Parma ruled last year’s edition after narrowly beating 15-year-old Heber Alqueza of Cebu.
