MANILA, Philippines–Petron started off cold but still got enough fuel to go full steam ahead to its seventh straight championship appearance Thursday night.
Bucking an opening set defeat, Petron bounced back to crush Cignal HD, 23-25, 25-17, 25-16, 25-21 and enter the final of the Philippine Superliga Grand Prix at FilOil Flying V Center.
It was the Blaze Spikers’ 17th win, needing just two more wins to capture the title by sweep, something they themselves accomplished four years ago.
But Petron will have to contend against the winner between F2 Logistics and PLDT in the other semifinal duel.
Stephanie Niemer had 35 points for Petron.
