Ateneo secures top seeding, rips UE

MANILA, Philippines—Ateneo rolled over University of the East, 25-20, 27-25, 25-11, Sunday to assure itself of the No. 1 spot in the UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball Final Four at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The win closed out the eliminations for the Lady Eagles who, at 12-2, will face the fourth-seeded team Far Eastern University in the semifinals armed with a twice-to-beat shield.
The Lady Eagles erased three set points in the second frame as the Lady Warriors decided to put up a decent fight. But a Bea de leon kill-block and a Maddie Madayag ace closed out the set.
By the third set, there was no stopping Ateneo as it pulled away to a 16-4 advantage on its way to blowout victory. UE ended its season with a 3-11 record.
