ANTIPOLO CITY—Frustrations nearly left Alaska head coach Alex, usually a man of words, speechless after his Aces suffered a 103-81 loss to NorthPort in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Wednesday at Ynares Center here.
Compton offered no excuse about what he thought was a horrible showing from his team in the loss to Batang Pier, sending them 1-1 early in the conference.
“It was a horrible game, there were basic ball screen breakdowns, and I think we went 10-for-24 from the line,” said Compton. “I don’t know what happened, we didn’t have a hard practice, I find no excuse for that.”

When asked what he told his players in the locker room after the brutal loss, Compton refused to expound.
“I don’t know if you can hear me out there, but the decibel level’s really high,” said Compton. “I think I’m not allowed to say that, that’s not the way we play.
Alaska’s only lead of the game was in the 11:23 mark of the first quarter when Simon Enciso hit a three for the 3-2 lead.

The Batang Pier slowly picked up steam and took a 28-21 lead after the opening period and that margin stayed for much of the game as they lead 75-66 heading into the fourth.
NorthPort eventually broke away in the final frame, going on a 19-7 run for the 97-76 lead after Sean Anthony’s layup with 2:38 to play.
