Tigers claw back to nip Painters; Baylon steps down

MANILA, Philippines—Powerade, the team Talk ‘N Text beat in the Philippine Cup finals, made it a night of thrillers as it forged a come-from-behind 122-120 victory over Rain or Shine in the second game of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Friday night.

Gary David knocked in the clinching triple with 13.7 seconds left as the Tigers won on the night it was announced that JB Baylon stepped down as Coca-Cola Export’s director for corporate communications.

JV Casio was also instrumental after pouring all of his 14 points in the second half, 10 of them in the final 3:45, and dishing out a pair of assists that completed the turnaround from 17 points down.

Baylon, the league’s vice chair who was supposed to assume the board’s top spot next year, will thus cease being Powerade’s representative to the board.
Ronald Asuncion, appointed alternate governor of the Tigers, will replace Baylon as acting governor of the ballclub.

Baylon leaves in the wake of reports about the sale of the Coca-Cola franchise and the looming trade of Marcio Lassiter to Petron.
