Defending women’s champion Liza del Rosario rolled an eight-game series of 1679 to secure a spot in round 2 of the Philippine International Open Tenpin Bowling Championships finals despite placing second behind Singaporean Jermaine Seah, 21 pinfalls behind.
Joining Del Rosario and Seah in round 2 of the finals Monday are Gilliam Lim of Malaysia and national youth member Bea Hernandez, who both wound up with 1616 pinfalls, plus Singaporeans Iliya Syamim (1600) and Charlene Lim (1599).
They will face qualifiers Lara Posadas-Wong, Dyan Coronacion and 2017 World Cup champion Krizziah Tabora in the second phase where the top three advance to the step-ladder medal encounter. —JUNE NAVARRO
