MANILA, Philippines—Marcio Lassiter is set to miss the rest of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup after suffering a knee injury in San Miguel’s 90-88 quarterfinals win over NorthPort Wednesday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

As per PBA’s official website, Beermen deputy Gee Abanilla said Lassiter suffered a type 2 MCL sprain in his left knee, according to orthopedic surgeon George Canlas, effectively sidelining the star shooter for at least six weeks.

Lassiter suffered the injury with 3:22 left in the second quarter when he and Garvo Lanete clashed knees on the latter’s layup attempt. He was immediately brought to the hospital for an MRI scan.

The injury will also force Lassiter to sit out the 2019 Fiba Basketball World Cup which will happen from Aug. 31 to Sept. 15 in China.

Lassiter was San Miguel’s most reliable wing averaging 12.6 points, on 38 percent shooting from deep, 4.2 assists, and 1.1 steals during the eliminations and his production will be sorely missed in the Beermen’s semifinals series against either Rain or Shine or Blackwater.
