/ 05:20 AM August 10, 2019

Alex Eala, Team Philippines’ feisty leader, vowed to continue their quest in the ITF World Junior Tennis Championships after the girls’ team dropped a shut-out decision to host Czech Republic in the quarterfinals late Thursday in Prostejov.

The 14-year-old Eala yielded to Nikola Bartunkova, 6-2, 7-5, while teammate Alexa Joy Milliam bowed to Brenda Fruhvirtova, 6-1, 6-1. Eala and Milliam also lost in the doubles to Bartunkova and Linda Fruvirtova, 6-1, 6-2. The Czech team they faced in the quarterfinals has so far not lost a single match in making the Final 8. —MARC ANTHONY REYES
