CEBU CITY—Moira Erediano couldn’t have had a better graduation from her age group.

Competing in her home province, Erediano made sure to rule the girls’ 13 to 14 race in her last age group stint in the  Alaska IronKids event in the Ironman 70.3 Philippines Saturday at Shangri-La Mactan.

Erediano, who is turning 15 in November, was not surprised that she was the fastest at her division, clocking in at 39:22.01.

“Yes, I expected to win because I want my parents to be happy, and my coaches to be happy,” said Erediano who’s the defending champion of the Cebu race.

“I feel really happy to end Ironkids with a bang and being a champion.”

Erediano’s, who studies at Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu, path to her second straight championship started off a bit physical.

Despite being the fastest swimmer in her group, Erediano pushed through some rough patches at the 400-meter swim course at the beach.

“The swim was really hard because they’re like pushing and pulling and drowning,” said Erediano with a laugh. “But I sprinted to the bike then on the running course I sprinted for most of it.”
