PSL: PLDT stuns F2 Logistics ahead of KO quarters
With nothing much at stake but pride, PLDT outlasted F2 Logistics in a protracted battle of grit to score a stunning 25-21, 26-28, 15-25, 25-19, 15-11, Saturday night in the Philippine Superliga All Filipino Conference at Corpus Christi Gym in Cagayan de Oro City.
The Power Hitters leaned on clutch players Grethcel Soltones and Jerrili Malabanan in the endgame to score their second straight victory and fifth in 14 games in the preliminaries.
They will remain in the lower half of the standings, but the win is expected to boost them in the knockout quarterfinals where at sixth place, the Power Hitters will possibly clash with the Generika-Ayala Lifesavers whom they defeated in their previous match.
The Cargo Movers absorbed their second straight defeat but will stay at second place with an 11-2 record. They will face the Cignal HD Spikers for their last assignment on Tuesday.
The game was halted for 30 minutes due to power outage in the venue and the organizers had to re-start the air conditioning system at the fully-packed venue.
