CLARK FREEPORT –– Driverless, low-speed vehicles are set to transport athletes and spectators to the 30th Southeast Asian Games in November, Vivencio Dizon, president of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA), said on Tuesday.

Dizon and Coast Autonomous signed a memorandum of agreement for the use and deployment of what they termed as autonomous or self-driving vehicles.

David Hickey signed on behalf of Coast Autonomous, which designs and develops world-class vehicle automation and monitoring systems for autonomous vehicles.

The Philippine government is not spending anything on the vehicles, Dizon said.

The vehicles will have test runs before the games, the BCDA said in a statement. Tonette Orejas
