MANILA, Philippines—Rain or Shine sent injured star Maverick Ahanmisi to Alaska for a package that includes point guard Ping Exciminiano and one of the Aces’ 2019 PBA Rookie Draft first round picks.
PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial signed the paper approving the deal Friday.
The lower of the two draft picks Alaska acquired from the Calvin Abueva trade to Phoenix will be given to the Elasto Painters.
Ahanmisi, who didn’t suit up in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup due to a foot injury, was a solid backcourt contributor for the Elasto Painters putting up 12.1 points on 42 percent shooting, 5.9 rebounds and 2.8 assists during the Philippine Cup elimination round.
Exciminiano, who was named to two PBA All-Defensive Teams in 2015 and 2016, meanwhile, is leaving the team which plucked him in the second round of the 2013 Draft.
Rain or Shine now has three picks in the first round of the 2019 Draft as a result of the recent trade and the earlier transaction sending Raymond Almazan to Meralco.
