Ravena clutch, NLEX comes back to stun Ginebra in OT
MANILA, Philippines—Kiefer Ravena came up clutch as NLEX completed a 113-111 comeback win over Barangay Ginebra in overtime in the PBA Governors’ Cup early Sunday morning (Manila time) at Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai.
The sophomore guard sent the game into overtime at 103-all after hitting a 3-pointer over LA Tenorio in the waning seconds of regulation.
Article continues after this advertisementRavena then took over as facilitator, assisting on seven of the Road Warriors’ 10 points in OT including Jericho Cruz’s basket that put the Road Warriors in the driver’s seat, 113-111, with 20.2 ticks to go.
NLEX closed the game on a 6-0 run, erasing the Gin Kings’ 111-107 lead inside the final two minutes.
Ravena was a playmaking maestro for NLEX finishing with 13 points and 17 assists.
Article continues after this advertisementOlu Ashaolu led the Road Warriors’ offense with 25 points with seven boards while Poy Erram supported him down low with 21 points and five rebounds.
Philip Paniamogan also found his stroke for NLEX with 20 points on 6-of-11 shooting from deep while Cruz added 13 points.
Ginebra held an 86-72 lead heading into the fourth only to get outscored, 31-17, in the final 12 minutes of regulation.
Justin Brownlee carried Ginebra with an ungodly line of 42 points, 20 rebounds, 10 assists, and four blocks.
The Road Warriors bounced back from just less than 24 hours since dropping a 98-94 decision to San Miguel to improve to 4-1 for the third spot in the standings.
Ginebra lost its second straight and slipped to 1-2.
