Gold medal projections continued pouring in, with athletics, judo and underwater hockey setting their targets for the Southeast Asian Games that kicks off at the end of the month.
Armed with talents from foreign shores, athletics has set a modest goal of six to eight gold medals, according to its president, Philip Ella Juico.
Juico called the projection “cautious,” in the wake of reports that countries like Vietnam will be fielding powerhouse squads.
“They are actually competing outside their countries now as we speak,” Juico said.
Philippine Judo Federation president David Carter, meanwhile, said his team is confident of bagging four gold medals, with Olympic hopeful Kiyomi Watanabe leading the squad.
Dennis Valdes, Philippine Underwater Hockey Federation head, said his team is targeting four gold medals.
